A submarine dives to a depth of 79 meters in the ocean. What is the force (in Newtons) acting on a hatch that has an area of 2.2 square meters? WARNING: do not use the information associated with Figure 4.26 to solve this problem because the round off error will cause you to get the wrong answer. Do not consider atmospheric pressure in your calculation, since the pressure inside of the submarine is maintained at 1 atmosphere, which offsets the 1 atmosphere of pressure that normally would be added to the gauge pressure.
