Answer the following questions based on a blood-pressure study group with normally distributed data that has a mean of 130 mmHg and a standard deviation of 20 mmHg.

1. If high blood pressure is defined as 140 mmHg or greater, what is the probability of having high blood pressure?

P(X > 140) = 1 - P(X < 140)
P(X > 140) = 1 - 0.9615
P(X >
140) = 0.3085

Therefore, the probability of having a highblood pressure is 0.3085

2. Would it be unusual for a person to have high blood pressure? Why or why not?

ANSWER: No, because the sum is less than 1

If the blood pressure of a person from the study group was measured 3 times and averaged, what is the probability that the person has high blood pressure?

3. If a sample size of 25 is taken from the study group, what is the sample mean?

4. If a sample size of 25 is taken from the study group, what is the standard deviation of the sample mean?

5. What is the probability that the sample mean blood pressure is considered high for a sample size of 25?
