Question: At a criminal trial, the prosecutor presents genotypes for three microsatellite loci as evidence. She reports that a DNA sample taken from the crime scene and the suspect both have the genotype FGA1/FGA2, TPOX1/TPOX3, VWA2/VWA7 at these three microsatellites. The allele frequencies for the general population in the area are presented in the above table. (HINT: this probability is the same as the probability of a random person in the population having the same genotype, so determine what is the probability of a person having the given genotype).
What is the probability that the DNA evidence would match the suspect given the suspect is innocent?
