Instructions

Find a Privacy Policy on a Web site that you frequently visit. The Privacy Policy may be linked from the site's Main/Home Page, or you may have to look for it on other pages. You can also Google the term "Privacy Policy" and the name of the company. The goal is for you to first find the policy, and then read the policy. Make notes as you read the policy.

You will then critique the policy and include in your MAIN DISCUSSION POST information whether the the privacy policy of the company was easy to understand, or was it written in 'legalese' and was full of jargon only a lawyer would understand. Did the policy address all of your concerns, specifically: what information it collects, what it does with the information, and how you would be notified of any changes to the privacy policy. Make a note of any changes you would make. Include the name of the company in your Main Post.

Provide details of what you see are strengths and weaknesses of the policy, what changes would you recommend to the privacy policy. For highest score, Your Main Post MUST be detailed and have at least one external reference (such as a Journal article or a scholarly website). For example, you can look for research that has shown which policies are most effective and/or guidelines for creating new policies for website. To find scholarly articles, go to https://scholar.google.com and type in your search terms. To cite these correctly, use the APA Guide available in the Content area.

You will make 2 posts during the week. CourseDen will not allow you to post a response until you have posted your MAIN POST first. You will have to start a New Thread for your Main post. Once you have entered your Main Post, then you will be able to post a DETAILED Reply to another student. As mentioned in the Syllabus, your reply should build on the original post, provide additional information, use examples to explain your views, raise new questions, suggest new perspectives etc.
