The purpose of this assignment is to understand the principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and how they affect the delivery of drugs and over-the-counter medications.

Students will provide the best complete answer to each of the following questions:

Define the principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics in the delivery of pharmacological care.

Provide an explanation for each of the pharmacokinetic processes below. Include in the discussion what factors can affect each process.

What is the Cytochrome P450 System? Explain what an inducing agent is and what an inhibiting agent is. Give one drug example of each and explain its effect as an inducer or inhibitor.

To minimize harm in medication administration and maximize beneficial drug response, discuss:
the nurse's role and legal responsibilities for medication administration.
how drug therapy must be adjusted to account for sources of individual variation, i.e. age, size, co-morbid conditions, pregnancy, and genetics.
