A. The andragogy theory presents 6 principles of adult learning: adults learn from experience, adults are self-directed learners, adults seek relevance in their learning, adults are ready to learn, adults are engaged by solving problems and implementing solutions, and adults' motivations to learn are based on internal needs. These six principles are the foundation for designing instruction and training within adult education.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 250-words:

  • In your own words, describe why it is important for the adult learner to make a connection between theory and practice.
  • How might practitioners who design and facilitate instruction or training for adult learners integrate the principles of adult learning theory?

Select 1 of the 6 principles and explain how the principle could be integrated into a course and/or training.

B. The adult learners who participate in community-based education programs reflect the diversity of the community and the clientele of the community-based education providers (community centers, literacy organizations, advocacy groups, faith-based organizations, libraries, etc.).
