Problem: A lift cage of mass 550kg accelerates upwards from rest to velocity of 5m/s whilst travelling through distance of 12 m with frictional resistance to the motion of 250N. Using the Principle of Conservation of Energy determine:

  • The work input from the driving motor.
  • The tension in the lifting cable.
  • The maximum power developed by the driving motor.
