Race, or perhaps more accurately ethnicity, is generally a master status in the US and as such can affect every part of our lives. Whether we are part of the dominant ethnic group in our community, or part of a minority ethnic group in our community, will influence how we view our ethnicity and the role it plays in our lives; so for sociologists, this is an area worth serious consideration.
