How green is green?IntroductionEssay format2. Choose a fitting title Sustainable finance has become increasingly prevalent for investors in recent years. The rise in ESG policies and lack of governance on what constitutes a sustainable fund has resulted in extensive greenwashing. American oil giant Chevron is a case in point. Unconvinced by the company's clean-energy claims, NGOs have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, accusing the firm of misleading consumers. France has introduced one of the world's first legal sanctions directly against greenwashing, in a ruling that would mean that guilty parties could be fined up to 80% of the cost of the false promotional campaign, a published correction on billboards or in the media. More countries should follow France's example to avoid greenwashing. Discuss.
