To celebrate completing this course, you are given another new and imporved Joule calorimeter by your new best friend. You decide to confirm the heat capacity of benzene (C6H6) and procure 10 mol of benzene. The accepted value for the heat capacity (CP) of benzene is 133.1 J·mol-1·K-1.

The data you measure are: work done by paddle wheel = 5324 J; temperature rise of benzene = 4 K.

Assuming that the liquid does not exchange heat with its surroundings, and that the CP and the pressure on the liquid remain constant during the experiment, evaluate your new gift?

(Note to self: need to be careful choosing friends...)
