You are the HR Director of Company XY. Your company and the union are engaging in a new round of negotiation this year. Since both parties have enjoyed a cordial relationship for the past 3 years, both are eager to preserve the current organisational climate. Your newly appointed CEO is concerned about the rising labour cost. He is willing to pay market rate as long as employee productivity can be maintained over time. You know senior management and the union have always been joint problem solvers. There is little doubt that they will continue to value each other's needs and seek a better future for the company and its employees. Examine which type of negotiation the above scenario illustrates.
