Question

An 85-year-old female patient (Marjorie Watts) presents at the primary care clinic, accompanied her great-granddaughter. The great-granddaughter, JaneySue, is concerned about MW seeming "not quite as mentally sharp as usual" and sleeping more than usual. The patient lives alone, but multiple members of the extended family live on adjacent property and check on her daily. JaneySue reports that yesterday, MW skipped Bible study at church, saying she was tired. It is unusual for MW to skip Bible study, as her faith is important to her and it is a social activity with her close friends. JaneySue stopped by MW's house when she got off of work at 3pm today. JaneySue reports she became concerned when MW was a lot slower to respond than usual, seemed "spacey", and told JaneySue that she had slept until 10:30 this morning. The patient typically awakens at 7 in the morning to do her stretches, eat breakfast, and watch television shows. They deny.
