Conducting a literature review - Guidelines on how to construct a literature review are given below:

1. Obtain and read a few academic journal articles relevant to the chosen topic you are researching. At first, the article may be difficult to understand. It is important that you read it a number of times and highlight the main points/arguments.

2. Prepare a brief review of each article including:

A statement of the central purpose or focus of the study

Brief information about the subject

Main constructs under review

A statement of key results

Gaps in the literature

3. Were there any findings in common? Were there disagreements?

4. Note how information from several earlier studies on the same topic area is integrated or linked to form an organised summary of previous research.

5. Consider how you may address a brief summary for your literature review, which reiterates the major points and organises them in a cohesive way.

6. Discuss the implications of your findings. What were the limitations of the various studies? What gaps did you find and where is more research needed? Indicate your research findings as compared to what other researchers found.

7. Conclude on what you think is best suited, recommendations, propositions.
