Assessment - Group Role Play: Ethics Officer Presentation to Company Board

Your Task

Your group will evaluate the risks and opportunities arising from the implementation of a new recruitment software technology under a data privacy, security, and ethics perspective.
The assessment has two sections: a one-page report (dot points) and a class presentation (with a Peer Review discussion).

This assessment will be done in small groups of three or four students.

Assessment Description
You are a member of the Data Security, Privacy, and Ethics Committee for a large consumer goods enterprise. The group is tasked with investigating trends, assessing opportunities and risks, and presenting to the Board of Directors (BoD) its findings on privacy, security, and ethical issues using AI-powered tech for hiring candidates. Then you are asked to present and discuss your recommendations to the BoD.

PART A: One-Page Group Report
Decide which of the following four roles (below) you will take in the role-playing and, as a group.

Recommend to the Board of Directors of a large consumer good enterprise whether or not they should adopt AI-powered tech for their recruiting operations.

Roles:

The HR Business Lead - who will explain how the company will benefit from the application and the opportunities the technology offers.

Ethics & Privacy Officer - who will explain how the information will be handled ethically while respecting each potential patient's privacy (including managing requests for data removal)

Chief Technology Officer - who will explain matters related to cybersecurity (access control, encryption, etc.) & integrity (e.g., blockchain technology)
Chief Information Security Officer - who will ask the other members questions and ensure the technology is regulatory-compliant and does not discriminate any part of society.

You will have 50 minutes to write in a group and submit a one-page board report (See Board Report Template on MyKBS) with dot points (500 words) into Turnitin
The points should outline your findings and recommendations to the C-suite and briefly justify these recommendations concerning ethical, legal, and security principles.
Incorporate the views of all four roles above. Each group member should have individual notes based on the stance of their role, which will be used as part of your presentation script in Part B.
One group member should submit these on Turnitin with the names of all group members by the end of the time.

PART B: Group Presentation (role-playing) and Peer Review

Perform the role play with the class.

Imagine you are speaking to the company's C-suite and recommending whether the organisation needs to use this technology. As per the roles on page 3, consider the opportunities and risks of this technology in terms of privacy, cybersecurity, regulations, and ethics.
Each group member will have 2 minutes to speak, and students will be marked individually and as a group.
