Summary
A digital presentation that must be completed in groups. You will be allocated to a group by your Learning Facilitator. For more details, please read the Task Instructions below.

Introduction
Numerous historical and contemporary issues affect the delivery of quality health care in Australia. Also, there are many legal and ethical guidelines, State, Federal and private governing bodies, codes of practice, fields of development and modes of funding. Therefore, it is important for nurses to both understand and stay current in their knowledge of these elements.

This assessment allows you the opportunity to research and present a summary of the health care system in Australia, including funding, factors affecting health, laws, and legislations that impact the nursing profession.

Task Instructions

Digital Presentation:

To complete this assessment, you must work as a group to prepare a digital presentation. This presentation should include responses to each point listed below. You must number the questions as per the brief in your presentation and each member of the group is required to identify the questions they have been allocated within the group.

You may use software like PowerPoint, Prezi, Visme, Keynote, Slides or ‘Slidebean' to compile your assessment. But it must be submitted as a pdf. Your presentation should be no longer than 30 slides.

1. Create an image or diagram displaying the overall structure of the Australian Healthcare System.

2. In no more than 20 words each., list three (3) strengths and three (3) weaknesses of the health care system in your state

3. Using no more than 50 words for each, discuss how the following factors impact health and illness in Australia

4. Identify three current health issues faced by the Australian population and existing health services that support these issues.

5. The following question has 2 parts -

A) List three (3) non - western healthcare treatments or approaches

B) nI no more than 50 words for each, discuss how these therapies may influence nursing care provided to patients.

6. Identify two (2) ways health is promoted in your local community and discuss two (2) strengths and two (2) weaknesses of each.

A) Identify two (2) specific themes or health issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

B) In no more than 50 words for each theme or health issue, discuss the impact on the delivery of health care these have for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

8. In 50 words, describe reflective nursing practice and provide one (1) example of how you could incorporate it into your professional life.

13. List three (3) health insurance-related organisations that exist in Australia and in 20 words for each, discuss their roles in the Australian health care system.

14. You are working as an Enrolled Nurse for a pathology company. A client arrives with a doctor's referral for a blood test. In 25 words list the requirements for a valid request form and who you would check with if you were unsure of any information on the form.

15. Access the Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) website and locate the guideline on Mandatory Notifications. In no more than 75 words, answer the following questions -

A) What are the ‘notifiable concerns' set out under the national law?

B) Who should make a mandatory notification?

C). Who can make a ‘voluntary notification'?

D) Under what circumstances might a voluntary notification be made?
