In Japan, they prepare for natural disasters. They often have earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons and volcanos. They also prepare with routines, and rituals so that life is predictable. Schools have opening and closing ceremonies that happen the same way every year. At work, risk factors are taken into consideration before a project can start.

In America, it's important to work on personal achievements and accomplishments. Americans spend a lot of time making sure their children learn to develop themselves at an early age with different types of activities: sports, music, arts, etc. Americans spend their time and money on developing themselves and buying things from themselves.

In Afghanistan, girls and boys wear different clothes and have access to different types of education and job opportunities. There is a culture of honor that maintains that men are the gatekeepers for women. In public women cannot be named but must be referred to as "mother of A," "wife of B," "daughter of C."

In Singapore, one of the key principles in Confucian teaching is the stability of society, which is based on unequal relationships. For example, father/son, older brother/younger brother, mother/daughter. Employees also rely on their managers to be told what to do. Control is expected and attitudes towards managers is formal.

American businesses measure their performance with quarterly reports on profits and loss statements. They strive for quick results within the workplace.
