Question - A U.S. company expects to purchase €1,000,000 in merchandise from an Italian supplier in 4 months. To protect against a weakening U.S. dollar, on June 1 the company pays $11,000 for September call options on €1,000,000, with a strike price of $1.23/€. The current spot rate is $1.22/€. The intrinsic value of the options is designated as a cash flow hedge of the forecasted purchase, and changes in time value are reported in income.
