The Quality and Safety Education of Nurses (QSEN) project goal is to prepare Registered Nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to improve the quality and safety of the healthcare systems where they work (QSEN, 2014).

For this discussion, students will be split into three (3) groups by the instructor.

Group 1 will address QSEN Competencies for Patient-Centered Care and informatics.

Group 2 will address the QSEN Competencies for Teamwork and Collaboration and Evidence-Based Practice.

Group 3 will address the QSEN Competencies for Quality Improvement and Safety.

Initial Discussion Post:

Consider the definition for the two (2) assigned QSEN competencies. For each competency, identify two (2) strategies the RN can apply to nursing practice to implement the competency. Provide a specific example from your personal healthcare experience as an example of the knowledge, skills, or attitudes (KSAs) associated with each of the strategies you identify.

Base your initial post on your readings and research of this topic.

Responses to Peers:

You are required to make two (2) responses to the initial posts of two (2) peers from another group. In each response to your peer suggest a strategy to implement the KSA that was not addressed in the peer's initial post.

In your responses to your peers' posts provide constructive and insightful comments that go beyond that of agree or disagree.

Your discussion postings must conform to the AD Nursing Discussion Posting Requirements [PDF, File Size 377 KB]; review the requirements prior to submitting your discussion posts.
