Assessment Task: Practical Assessment Task- Develop and prepare for coaching strategy implementation
TASK SUMMARY:
The student will develop a framework for the suitable coaching strategy in accordance with organisational context and needs, analyse compliance requirements and plan coaching models, tools and resources to suit the coaching strategy. Students are required to refer the given case study to complete this task.
Task briefing
In this task, you are required to prepare a report on developing and implementing a coaching strategy for the given case study. The student must develop the coaching strategy considering organisational context and needs by participating in a role play meeting with key stakeholders. Student are required to then plan for implementing the coaching strategy by considering all legal, regulatory and organisational requirements.
This task is to be done in following two (2) parts:
1) Part A- Develop coaching strategy
2) Part B- Prepare for coaching strategy implementation
Case Study
Background: You work as the Training Manager for Global Learning. The company is a registered training organisation RTO. Global Learning has a number of contracts with companies across Australia delivering Workplace English Language and Literacy programs (WELL). These projects are generally funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and an agreement exists between all parties the Company, the RTO and DEEWR the Government Department.
Fabtech International Limited (FIL) is one of the largest and most respected companies in China's private sector. With over 75 years of a strong, customer focused approach and a continuous quest for world-class quality, FIL has unmatched capabilities across Technology, Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing, and maintains a leadership in all its major lines of business.
Fabtech International Limited (FIL), started its operations in Australia in 2016 and employs a number of Australians. Supervisors in the workplace have identified that employees from non-English speaking background are having difficulties during charge handover at the change of shift as the communication between the teams has been an issue with important messages not being passed on. Moreover, completing OHS Workplace Documents and writing reports are a challenge for those employees.
FIL took decision to initiate coaching programs to improve the situation and invited quotations from different RTO's for a WELL contract to improve the literacy, oral and writing skills of employees. As WELL programs are delivered on site in the company's workplace, the Guidelines for the employment of Trainers state; the trainer must have experience Teaching English to Speakers as Second Language (TESOL) and also have a Vocational Education and Training qualification (TAE) and experience delivering training in VET qualifications in the workplace.
Global Learning was successful in its bid and got the contract from FIL. You have been nominated as the Project Manager to implement the learning program at the FIL. You got the information that this learning program is to be done in collaboration with FIL. There will be 35 people who will undergo this training and all of them are from South Asian background.
You complete the Project Plan for this WELL Program and you identify you will need 2 trainers to work across the project, so you start the recruitment process, advertising for trainers with Certificate IV in both TESOL and Training and Assessment.
Part A -Plan coaching strategy
Scenario: As the Training Manager of Global Learning, You have decided to meet the General Manager of FIL to understand client's requirements and expectations before planning the coaching program. Therefore, you have taken prior appointment for the meeting and done your research before the meeting. You have been informed that the Production Manager of FIL will also join the meeting for giving you better insight.
Instructions to students:
1. You are required to participate in a role play meeting in this task
2. You must plan and arrange a meeting with the General Manager of FIL
3. Your trainer/assessor will take on the role of the General Manager of FIL and one(1) of your classmates will take on the role of Production Manager of FIL.
4. You must prepare a questionnaire/ agenda for the meeting
5. You must ensure to perform this task professionally in a simulated environment
6. Time-limit for the role play is 20-30 minutes
7. You must prepare a minutes of meeting to record the observations
Steps to complete the Practical Assessment Task:
TSK2.1. Discuss with the stakeholders, seek their input and understand their perspective on the following points:
• Organisational context and need for the coaching program
• Objectives of the coaching program
• Timelines for coaching strategy implementation
Provide:
• Prepare meeting sign in sheet & Minutes of the meeting which includes discussion topics & following items:
o Name and position of personnel involved
o Date of meeting/ session
o Points discussed in the session
o Signature of attendees

Part B - Prepare for coaching strategy implementation
This assessment task requires you to prepare for coaching strategy implementation by developing required tools, establishing criteria, rules and procedures appropriate to the coaching program modes and methods.
Instructions to students:
1. This task is in continuation to the Part-A of this assessment task.
2. This task is an individual work exercise.
3. You are required to use the information from the given case study and other reference material to prepare for the coaching program.
4. You must prepare a report covering the given criteria.
TSK2.4. The word-limit for the report is 800-1200 words.
TSK2.5. Analyse the organisation's issues and plan the coaching program and coaching models to
suit the coaching strategy
TSK2.6. List the tools and resources required for the coaches and trainees
TSK2.7. Establish the selection criteria, selection procedures, induction and training requirements for coaches and trainees.
TSK2.8. Research and analyse the legal, regulatory and organisational compliance requirements TSK2.9. Specify the tools, mechanisms and procedures for matching and managing coach-trainee
relationships.
