During its payroll processing, Shoney Builders, uses a key-to-tape encoder to record job time tickets to tape. The company then processes the tape, at which time the work-in-process master file is updated and the payroll master file is updated, based on the job time transactions on the tape. The processing run results in a payroll register, employee paychecks and earning statements, and an error summary report, all on magnetic tape.
