Screening of applicants is very much important for the success of employer because it helps eliminate the good employees from the bad employees. According to Moran (2014), employees are looking to hire workers who are skilled and do a good job so employee screening will be the best source of getting information about the applicant for hiring.If a proper screening is done then getting a perfect employee for the position increases. No every screening is needed for every job applicants. Certain jobs require more thorough screening especially for a specific position in the job. One screening is personality and integrity test.
These screening will help eliminate those who show a more negative character trait such as aggressive, aggravated, hostile, etc. when it comes to personality and for integrity if the applicant has a propensity to steal (Moran, 2014).These screening are more for sales associates. Another screening needed is medical exams just to clarify the applicant is fit to perform the position given to them. These types of screening are more for construction workers, janitors, store workers, etc.
Even if some resumes are perfect there are others that contain outright lies. This is the reading given by about 39% of IT professionals and 35% of IT leaders. (Caldwell & Burger, 1998).) More than 70% of it professionals agree that screening process gives proper decision for candidacy(Caldwell & Burger, 1998).There are benefits when it comes to employee reading which are reduce risks for employees associated with lawsuits, criminal background, etc., identifies the best employee for the position, creates a confident workforce, reducing rates of employee income, as well as reduce training and termination costs for those employees who are unsuitable. Employees need to be screening before as once or twice a year during employment. Some screening need to be announced last minute so no one is prepared for it such as drug testing. According to this screening is recommended.
