The Advising Offices in the Sierra Pacific Community College (SPCC) District work to assist students throughout the completion of their academic programs. Because SPCC has a large population of students who are retraining themselves for different types of employment, job-related information is especially important. For this project, you prepare a presentation about writing resumes. This project has been modified for use in SIMnet.

1. Open the ResumeUpdates-01 start file. Click the Enable Editing button in the Message Bar at the top of the presentation so you can modify it.

2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor. Press F12 to open the Save As dialog box and save this file.

3. Change theme style and font.

a. Change the Background Style to Style 4 (Figure 1-109).

b. Change the Theme Fonts to Georgia.

4. Adjust placeholder sizing and text.

a. Display slide 1 and select the title placeholder. Change text alignment to Align Left.

b. Resize the placeholder so the text word wraps on two lines.

c. Select the subtitle placeholder and change text alignment to Align Left (Figure 1-110).

5. Insert two new slides after slide 2 with the Title and Content layout. Type the following text for slides 3 and 4:

a. Slide 3 title: Accomplishments, Not Duties Bulleted items:

  • Include only the most impressive details about your career
  • Quantify your day-to-day tasks
  • How many times?
  • What was the result?
  • How much money was saved?

b. Slide 4 title: Proofread Bulleted items:

  • Employers take spelling and grammar errors as signs of carelessness
  • Ask a trusted friend or colleague to look at your resume

6. Reuse slides from another presentation.

a. Click between slides 4 and 5. Note: You will see a blinking red line between the two slides, indicating where new slides will be added.

b. Open the Reuse Slides pane and browse to find ResumeContent-01 downloaded from the Resources link.

c. Insert all three slides and close the Reuse Slides pane.

7. Display slide 8.

a. Select the title placeholder and change text alignment to Align Left. Type Success!.

b. Resize the title placeholder to fit the text.

c. Delete the subtitle placeholder.

8. Correct the following spelling errors: Improve, redundant, and any other errors you find.

9. Apply the Reveal transition with the Through Black from Right effect option to all slides.

10. Save and close the presentation (Figure 1-112).

11. Upload and save your project file.

12. Submit project for grading.
