Assessment method-based instructions and guidelines: Project
Assessment task description:
• This is the second (2) assessment task you must successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.
• This assessment task requires you to complete a project.
• You are required to conduct market research for two different case scenarios.
• You will receive your feedback within two weeks, and you will be notified by your trainer/assessor when results are available.
• You must attempt all activities of the project for your trainer/assessor to assess your competency in this assessment task.
Purpose of the assessment
The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students' skills and knowledge essential gather market information by using appropriate methodology and analyse the research information.
• Skill to develop and implement a market research survey tool
• Skill to accurately record and securely store survey data in accordance with organisational procedures
• Skill to identify a range of methodologies to analyse market research information
• Skill to utilise a range of methodologies to analyse market research information
• Skill to document market research activities and findings in a research report.
Task instructions
• You are required to conduct market research for two different case scenarios.
• You must prepare a market research survey tool for each scenario.
• Word limit to complete report for case scenario 1 and 2 is 400-500 words each.
Assessment Task 2 - Project
Project task:
Case study scenario 1:
You are working in an advertising and marketing company. One of your clients wants to use social media for their advertisements and marketing campaigns. They are unsure and unaware of the effectiveness of social media and are concerned whether they would get a good return on investment (ROI). You have been in the industry for a while and you know they are very effective, and they do give good returns on investment. Your client needs some sort of proof that is a worthwhile investment. You need to back up your claims with enough statistics and data by conducting market research about the effectiveness of social media.
Task
1. You need to prepare a market research survey tool, in this case, a questionnaire with at least 10 questions. You must include different question types (Yes/No type, multiple choices, true or false questions, match the followings, open questions). You could also use www.surveymonkey.com
2. The questions should be collected and developed using a range of sources and identifies relevant and key information
3. Choose 10 of your classmates as your respondents and distribute the survey tool. If you do not have classmates, your RTO will organise the survey participants.
4. Accurately record and securely store survey data in accordance with the following organisational procedures:
a) Do not let the survey too long
b) Ask objective questions
c) Focus on using closed-ended questions
d) All survey data must be stored according to Privacy Principles and applicable legislation, regulations, standards and codes
5. Collate the information, tally them up using MS Excel and prepare a report by interpreting your findings with the help of tables and graphs.
a) Organises content that incorporates results of research logically, using correct grammatical structure, clear language and required organisational format (MS Excel)
b) Extracts and evaluates mathematical information and uses a variety of techniques to interpret data and analyse trends
6. Present your findings in an A4 report format including the following headings:
a) Background and Introduction
b) Methodology
c) Results
d) Discussion
e) References
7. Use qualitative and quantitative methodologies to analyse market research information
a) Recognises and follows explicit and implicit organisational protocols and procedures, and meets expectations associated with own role
b) Selects appropriate form, channel and mode of communication for a specific purpose relevant to own role
8. Attach a copy of your questionnaire and the report to your assessment
9. You will be required to present the report to your trainers and assessors. As part of the presentation, you are required to:
a) Present information using a suitable tone, language and syntax structures
b) Gathers information through active listening and questioning
