Assignment -
1. Professional Communication
You work for the IT department at the University of South Australia. For the past six months, a small project team at UniSA, including IT, teaching and administrative staff, have been working with high-tech company Maverick Technology Pty Ltd (MavTech). The company specialises in the development of holograms for use in business and has been having great success in assisting businesses with virtual conferencing. Recently it has been working on the technology for holoportation and has produced an affordable product that can be used by individuals, allowing them to receive moving holographic images wherever they need (e.g. in a private home).
In a world-first deal, MavTech is about to sign an agreement with the University of South Australia to introduce similar technology for remote and virtual teaching of students. Some of the potential applications include:
- projecting guest lecturers from another location into an on-campus class,
- projecting lecturers into a class in a country campus site such a UniSA Whyalla,
- projecting a lecturer into online students' home location in real time,
- conducting small group tutorials with participants in multiple locations, and
- providing 'face-to-face' consultation between a student and lecturer in different locations.
MavTech and UniSA are preparing to publicly announce the new partnership. You will need to write a communication plan that will be discussed with MavTech at the next round of meetings.
Task - Using the university template (provided) as guidance, prepare a communication plan to announce the partnership with MavTech to an internal audience for UniSA at the same time as external stakeholders are advised.
You may focus on the internal plan, the external plan, or do both. Your assignment should reflect your choice in depth and complexity.
Considerations - In addition to the information above, you may make assumptions about any further information you may need to complete this task (for example, fictitious names of individuals, university/company structures, dates, technology).
The template may be amended where necessary and is provided as a guide for the content only.
You will need to identify the items to be included in the budget and while the actual costs/amounts do not need to be accurate and can be estimated they should be feasible .
References - Include a list of all the reference material you use in researching and developing your plan.
