Overall Structure of Commentary Paper
(Note: paper is typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font, 1" margins on top, bottom, left, right). It should be 4 full to 5 pages of text and an ADDITIONAL Works Cited page. You should cite the ONE article you use as the basis of the paper and 2 to 3 additional sources used to critique the article. Don't go overboard. This is not a research paper and shouldn't have more than 2-3 additional sources aside from the main source.
Paragraph 1: (introduction/summary): Introduce (give complete article information) & summarize the article - 7 to 9 sentences
Paragraph 2: (short paragraph that is your Thesis Statement)
Paragraph 3: Address and critique a point from the article. Must develop your idea(s).
Paragraph 4: Address and critique another point from the article. Must develop your idea(s).
Paragraph 5: Address and critique a third point from the article. Must develop your idea(s).
OPTIONAL to address and critique a fourth point from the article. The minimum required is three, though.
Paragraph 6/7 (depending): Short conclusion paragraph of about 5 to 7 sentences
