Golf Business Management Assignment - Business Plan
Task: Prepare a business/promotional plan for the period 1st April 2019 to 30th September 2019. Specifically, you need to show how you plan to support and encourage the participants of the beginner courses to continue participating at your facility and how you will promote these plans. Your plans need to be realistic, achievable and clearly demonstrate how they will contribute to the club achieving its vision.
Within the plan you must include:
- A focused overview of your golf facility's current situation.
- A vision, a mission statement and a number of short-term objectives.
- Plans for innovative follow-on activities and events to support and encourage the new female golfers to continue regularly participating at your facility.
- A promotional plan that includes ideas for your promotional mix.
- An outline of the resources required to deliver the planned activities and events.
- A promotional budget.
You are not required to produce Profit & Loss/Cash-flow forecasts for your plan.
Focused overview of the Golf Facility's Current Situation -
The plan should include an overview of your golf facility's current situation and should be written in the context of delivering the campaign and female participation.
You should provide relevant information about the type of facility, its location, facilities, membership trends, existing coaching provision, competitors etc. You must give the reader enough background to understand the context in which you are writing your plan.
This section should include an explanation of the key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats identified after conducting a SWOT Analysis. The full SWOT analysis should be placed in the plan's appendix. On this occasion, a PEST Analysis does not need to be included in the plan, but external forces should still be considered.
Vision, Mission Statement and Objectives -
There should be a clear sense of direction for the plan. The plan should include a vision, mission statement and a number of short-term (6-months) objectives.
The vision and mission statement should be set on behalf of the golf facility and should be based on what they hope to achieve in the long-term.
The short-term (6-months) objectives should be concerned with how your plans will contribute towards achieving the vision and also be related to specific areas of the plan.
Plans for innovative follow-on activities and events to support and encourage the new female golfers to continue participating regularly at your facility -
These plans should be innovative and demonstrate how you will support and encourage the participants of the beginner courses to continue participating at your facility after the beginner course has finished. It is important that you think about the needs and wants of these people.
Each activity or event should be accompanied by a brief explanation of the reasoning for its inclusion. Your plans should fully utilise the skills, abilities and experience of the PGA Professional staff at your facility.
Your plans should look to add value to the participants' experiences, so focusing on price and large discount offers and deals will not gain credit.
Promotional Plan -
The promotional plan should be linked to your objectives and primarily target the ladies who are taking part in the beginner courses. Please note, you are not required to promote your PGA Training Professional's beginner courses.
The promotional plan should provide specific, realistic and imaginative ideas for promotional activities and should be fully costed. A calendar detailing the timing of promotions and sample promotions should both be provided as part of the appendices. It is acceptable for promotional activities to start ahead of 1st April 2019 if you wish. An explanation of the Marketing Mix (the 4Ps) and Promotional Mix is not required.
Resource Requirements -
The section should provide an overview of the resources required to deliver the planned activities and events e.g. equipment, staff, skills, training etc.
Promotional Budget -
The promotional budget needs to outline the spending and how this will be broken down into the various promotional activities on a month-by-month basis. Notes need to accompany the budget to explain how the figures have been arrived at. The budget only needs to show expenditure, not income.
