Question:

The portfolio will include evidence of preparation for teaching a lesson on tense (present or past). Choose either one. The proposed lesson can be for students at any level (i.e. beginner, intermediate, advanced) and in the teaching context of your choice. The portfolio will NOT include a lesson plan. The portfolio must include ALL of the following:

a. An introduction to the portfolio (50-100 words).

b. Annotated bibliography of 3 readings (book chapters or journal articles) on the chosen topic (either present or past tense). The readings may come from a range of sub-disciplines (e.g. pragmatics, second language learning, grammar teaching, World Englishes). Each annotation should be 250-300 words, noting the key points from each reading.

c. Annotated bibliography of 3 teaching resources (e.g. ESL/EFL text books, websites, pedagogical grammars). Each annotations should be 250-300 words, noting the key points from each resource.

d. Two suggested texts (written) that could be used as the basis of a lesson on this topic. The texts must include examples of the forms being taught. Provide 2-3 detailed reasons for choosing each text (e.g. learner level, teaching context, interesting or relevant content, grammar examples). The length of the text can vary but typically a text between 400-500 words should be sufficient to provide enough examples of the form.

e. Explain why the readings, resources, and texts you have chosen are suitable to teach the topic in the context you have identified (400-500 words). The readings you have chosen in (b) above should be used in this explanation.
