We are going to look at the fight between local ordinances and state law. We are going to start with historical issues such as black codes, poll taxes, segregation, equal protection of the laws and voting laws. Then, we are going to take on more recent topics such as LGBTQ rights (gay marriage, HERO laws, transgender bathroom laws), sanctuary cities, fracking, abortion, etc. Do any online research necessary to be able to fully discuss the topics listed above.

Note:- I need source and citaion

1. How should the government weigh the predominant political culture against minority rights? (this includes historical and more recent discrimination)

2. Should Texas cities be allowed to pass ordinances against discrimination? (think, LGBTQ employment discrimination, HERO laws) Should Texas cities be allowed to pass ordinances for the protection of people who reside in those cities? (think, sanctuary cities, abortion rights, transgender bathroom laws, fracking) Or, should state law preempt city ordinances? (for the good of all the people) Lastly, when these laws are passed by local or state governments, should the federal government have the right to preempt them?

3. What role should the federal government play in maintaining equality for the citizens of the various states?

4. Within this battle for citizen's rights and protections, local government's need to create a healthy cultural climate, state's rights, and federal government authority, where do you believe the power should lie? Is there a way to maintain equilibrium?
