MCAD deficiency is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. Draw the mating diagram of a genetic cross between two heterozygous carriers of the defective MCAD gene. Use your mating diagram to predict the genotypic and phenotypic ratios of the offspring. Remember to use the problem solving technique for handling genetic problems developed in Book 5. Hint: Use a capital M to represent the allele for the normal functioning protein.

Your answer should also state the probability that any child who is conceived from the mating described in your mating diagram will have the MCAD deficiency phenotype.
