The marketing manager of a large supermarket chain would like to determine the effect of shelf space on the sales of pet food. A random sample of 5 equal-sized stores was selected and the results are presented below: (α=.05)
Store Shelf Space (feet) Weekly Sales ($100)
_____________ X_______________ Y_________
1 8 16 ∑x = 36, ∑x2 = 274, n = 5
2 9 22
3 7 14 ∑y = 95 ∑y2 = 1495 ∑xy = 708
4 4 15
5 8 28
a) Predict the average weekly sales of pet food for stores with 20 feet of shelf space for pet food.
b) Compute coefficient of correlation.
c) Compute standard error of estimate.
d) Setup 95% confidence interval for population mean (assuming X=20).
e) Is there any correlation between X & Y
Compare the standard deviation for the heights of males and the standard deviation for the heights of females in the class.
Solve the equations using linear algebra
Can you create descriptive statistic from the information and what is the highest level of school you have completed or the highest degree you have received?
Write Cumulative distribution function.Find the cumulative distribution function F(x).
Then compute the probability of B in each situation (these are the P(B|An)). Finally weigh each of these probabilities with the probabilities that you are in an situation.
For each lettered part, a through c, examine the two given sets of numbers. Without doing any calculations, decide which set has the larger standard deviation and explain why. Then check by finding the standard deviation by hand .

A random sample of 50 engineers of a large technology company that the sample mean is 34.4 year. assume that the population standard deviation is 8 years.
Suppose the following statistics were calculated from data gathered from a randomized block experiment with k = 4 and b = 10:
Compute test statistic and p -value for each sample. (Negative amount must be pointed out by minus sign.)
What does standard deviation measure? In looking at the standard deviations of the "with fireplace" and "without fireplace" selling prices, one is much larger than the other.
Determine the P value for the indicated hypothesis test with given standardized test statistic, z. Make decision whether to reject H0 for given level of significance deviation.
