Mrs. Rubio is a 59-year-old Hispanic woman who presents to your clinic for preventive care. She notes that her mother died of diabetes and her father died of heart disease. She currently reports no polyuria, polydipsia, or weight loss. She also denies chest pain, no shortness of breath, no palpitations. Her Electrocardiogram (ECG) showed normal sinus rhythm without left ventricular hypertrophy. Her fasting blood sugar was > 220 mg/dL (on 2 occasions), HbA1c 9.1%, total cholesterol - 250 mg/dl, LDL-cholesterol 150 mg/dL, HDL-cholesterol 30 mg/dL, and triglycerides 285 mg/dL. Her vital signs BP 150/95, HR 90 RR 16 Temperature 98.5 F, Ht. 5'1" and Wt. 185 lbs.
