Textbook - Health Care Information Systems: A Practical Approach for Health Care Management 4th Edition (Wagner, Lee and Glaser)
An organization's Chief Information Officer is the go-to person for all things related to Information Technology. Colleges and universities don't have degree programs specifically related to the role of CIO so this begs the question: "How does one become a CIO?". Research a Fortune 500 company's CIO and document who they are and how they came to the position they now hold.
How did they become that company's CIO? What was their track to that position? Does this person have a background in IT or does their prior experience come from another field? Did this person move through the ranks of the company they work for or did they come from outside the company. Did they come from the same industry (pharmacology, IT, auto, banking, ect)? If not, which industry did they come from. These are just some of the questions you need to address when you research the CIO of your choosing.
This is a research paper which means you will have multiple sources from which you draw your information. Those sources will be properly cited using the MLA format. A link to the Purdue Online Writing Lab is provided in Block 0 of the Moodle classroom under the MLA tab. Use this resource to set up your paper and as a citing resource.
The paper will be double spaced with 1 inch margins and use Times New Roman, 12 pt font. This paper should take you between 800 and 1000 words to fully identify the subject of your paper and to document where they came from and how they came to their current position.
