Summarise your entire proposal so your manager can see at a glance what your service proposes to do and both the cost and benefits. Keep most of the information to the body of the business case. The executive summary is usually written last
Background (Element 1- Introduction)
Set the scene explain what the problem is and how it is affecting the service. Include any data that you may have to support your idea.
Current service provision (Element 2- Rationale)
Explain what is currently being done to tackle the issue and what service provision you currently have in place, what is working and what is not working
Overall Goals (Element 3)
List any goals and objectives for the project
Proposal (Element 4- Describe outcomes)
Explain what will be done, identify and financial cost and any training the will needed
Who will be responsible, Identify a suggested time frame
Stakeholders (Element 5-Stakeholders)
Identify people who will be affected by this change and what their reaction may be. Briefly discuss any consultation that will need to occur
Resistance (Element 6 )
Review the contemporary literature regarding possible reactions to change. Consider your change and outline 3 possible reactions to the planned change and provide strategies to manage these.
Deliverable outcome (Element 6- List benefits to the organisation)
Outline the advantages of the change; this may be increased efficiency, increased revenue, improved processes? This will be dependant on the problem you have identified.
