Your charge nurse has repeatedly walked away from the hall computer with patient information exposed on the screen. Their response to your caring intervention was aggressive and hostile. You also mentioned that the administrator was on the unit, and you were concerned the charge nurse would be found in error.

The Charge Nurse's response: "Oh, you're just new. Don't you know the patients don't care. Mine always know what other patients I have and how sick they are. That way, they don't bother me so much. And don't worry about administration, I'm sure they do it, too"

Discuss the ethical, legal and power issues involved in the Charge Nurse's remarks. What are your thoughts? What should you do next?
