As a founder of socialist theories, Karl Marx explained through his economic and revolutionist perspective many phenomena, including power. Marx’s explanation on the origin of power and the mechanism of its execution received many critics from Michel Foucault, a modern philosopher and sociologist. Although he agreed with Marx upon the reason why power emerges, Foucault made many significant supplements, which made the theory of power more complete and relevant in the modern time.
