The current retirement system does not ensure that all older people will have financial security in old age.  Inequality exists in later life due to social structural conditions. Describe socioeconomic issues associated with issues of inequality in aging demographics. Identify three specific issues of inequality currently affecting aged populations. Be certain to provide references from your resources, including at least one peer-reviewed resource beyond those required for this assignment, to defend your statements.

Provide an introduction including a general overview of economic inequality in the older adult population. Be certain to include a summary of these issues and suggestions for potential solutions in your conclusion.

Compare and contrast historical and current perspectives on economic issues associated with aging by addressing the following questions and components in the body of your paper:

• Does the retirement income system meet some peoples' needs better than others'?
• Has this always been the case in the U.S.? Why or why not?
