Problem: Fossils fascinate many people (especially, of course, the dinosaurs). They give insight great into earth's history. In this discussion we will collect information on fossils. There is an enormous amount of information on fossils on the web. Some of it is of dubious quality at best, so make sure to identify quality information. So google your favorite long-dead organism and report on the information below. Post the name of your fossil in the title. When naming your fossil, include both the common name (e.g. "Wooly Mammoth") as well as it's scientific/taxonomic name (e.g. "Mammuthus primigenius"). Some species may not have a common name. Don't just think of animals! There are plenty of extinct organisms besides the dinosaurs and ice-age mammals. Think about plants, insects, fishes, microorgansims too!
