Peterson was employed by Post-Network as a newscaster-anchorman on station WTOP-TV Channel 9 under a three-year employment contract with two additional one-year terms at the option of Post-Network. During the first year of Peterson’s employment, Post-Network sold its operation license to Evening News in a sale that provided for the assignment of all contracts, including Peterson’s employment contract. Peterson continued working for the station for more than a year after the change of ownership, but then found a job at a competing station and resigned. Evening News sued Peterson for breach of the employment contract. Can a person who was not an original party to a contract sue to enforce it?
