Short story: Eudora Welty, "A Worn Path"
This week you will have the opportunity to practice the skills of finding scholarly articles in the library. First, refer to the lecture about conducting research in the South University Online Library. Next, go to the library and find one credible, scholarly source examining the short story that was the focus of your essay for W4: Assignment 2. Avoid popular publications, such as magazines, newspapers, and other informational media that are not research oriented. Try this Research Guideprovided for this course by South University Online Library Services.

Below is an example:
Lister, R. (2007). Literary Contexts in Short Stories: Eudora Welty's "A Worn Path". Literary Contexts In Short Stories Collections: Eudora Welty's 'A Worn Path', 1.
In this article, journalist Rachel Lister explores Eudora Welty's "A Worn Path," which is one of Welty's most popular stories. The article provides different literary context. Lister explains each literary context in full. She discusses different symbols and motifs and explains how each symbol adds detail to the story. She then goes on to discuss societal context and how race played a factor in the story. Lister then proceeds with explaining the historical approach that Welty used in her work. She ends the article by acknowledging the religious and scientific context used throughout the story. Lister does a wonderful job with her article. She notes context that readers may have missed while reading the story. She even described bibliographical context about the author that added a nice touch to the article.
This article would be beneficial to the essay that I wrote because as I described the setting, I also tried to provide details that would help readers understand the importance of the visual images that Welty provided, and by adding the different contextual points from this article I can more detail to my essay. I have more information on the author that I can insert. I also can add the religious and scientific context that I did not see when I read the story. Lister's article was very informative and opened my eyes to different context that I was unaware of and now I can share with others some of the information that I have obtained.
