What could be a possible null hypothesis for linkage experiment?
Background: Based on my knowledge, I know a null hypothesis is consist of variables that have no relationship on the controlling variable. Additionally, I know linkage chromosomes involves genes found on the same chromosome. Which crossing over can occur on linkage chromosomes.
(My) possible null hypothesis: Alleles/genes will independently assort from each other because conducting a test cross will create equal frequencies causing independent assortment rather than crossing over.
Note: I just wanted more input about my statement and question. Any input would help
