If birds prefer one colour of berry they will become the 'prey' of choice. If this occurs and they face higher predation then the numbers will diminish. Depending on outside factors such as the area and the environmental factors which may lead to the extinction of that variety. However what we must consider is the life cycle of the berry in question, more specifically seed dispersion. If birds prefer one colour of berry and this type relies on seed dispersion via a birds digestion and excretion then it will benefit, this would result in sustained population levels.
