Question

How to response this message; "Paying for performance did not have a positive impact on employee performance. In the video he says that people doing the same task for 3 different incentives pretty much performed the same except the highest incentive people performed the worse. This is due to the pressure that is put on you because of the reward. When you do things you like you tend to do better than things you are told to do or have an incentive to do.

Certain types of compensation that are strategic are things like in the video that you want to do. So like more time off, working on a project that you are passionate about, and things like this. I do agree with Dan, when you do things, you actually want to do then you do better and actually enjoy what it is you are doing. I think intrinsic motivators help a lot more than extrinsic ones."
