"The study included a population of adult patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This is the group that the study is focused on and the group that the intervention, comparison, outcomes, and time are all related to. The intervention is structured diabetes self-management education programs, the new method or treatment being tested and compared to the current standard of care. The comparison is regular diabetes education offered in routine care happens to be the current standard of care or treatment that the new intervention is being compared to. The outcomes are improved glycemic control, increased knowledge of diabetes self-management, and lower risk of complications and are the results that the study is looking to achieve with the new intervention.
