Question

Every day, a large portion of the population is at the mercy of rising technology. Artificial Intelligence, that is. Thanks to most books and movies, each generation has formed its fantasy of a world ruled by or at least served-by technology. As a result, society has been conditioned to use AI without even knowing that it is the computer calling the shots. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a broad area of computer science that makes machines seem like they have human intelligence. The term "artificial Intelligence" was coined in 1956 by Dartmouth Professor John McCarthy. He called together a group of scientists and mathematicians to see if machines can learn the way a young child does. This is by using trial and error to develop formal reasoning. McCarthy formulated a project proposal saying they would figure out how to make machines "use language, form abstractions and concepts," solve kinds of problems now reserved for humans, and improve themselves. Like all exponential curves, it has been challenging to tell when a line slowly ticking upwards will skyrocket.
