Labradoodles are a designer dog "breed" created from the mating of a poodle with a Labrador retriever. In the ?rst-generation, labradoodles can have straight, wavy, or curly hair that is thought to be governed by two alleles at a single gene locus that show incomplete dominance. Dogs homozygous for IS allele have straight hair, those homozygous for the IC allele have curly hair, and heterozygotes have wavy hair. A labradoodle breeder has collected records for the last 10 years from 1000 ?rst generation puppies. In total she produced 190 straight hair, 480 wavy hair, and 330 curly hair puppies.

1. Calculate the frequencies of the IS and IC alleles in this population.

2. Is this population in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium? Use statistical methods to justify your answer.
