Question 1. Present a summary of why the economic evaluation is needed. You should draw on your understanding of the methods of economic evaluation and the underlying principles. Remember to consider the general need for economic evaluation, as well as the specific need for this evaluation

Question 2. Apply the NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHS EED) guidelines to report the design and results of the published economic evaluation.

Question 3. Apply the NHS EED guidelines to critically appraise the published economic evaluation.

Question 4. Make recommendations for future research, relevant to economic evaluation, that is needed to allow this research to be implemented in practice. Do this by proposing one research project (e.g. a systematic review and modelling study or a trial analysis) that will overcome the limitations described by you in your critical appraisal (point 3), provide your rationale. Remember to include a focused and answerable economic question, details on study design, describe how it can be addressed using primary or secondary data sources and explain how results will be presented/interpreted. Remember the NHS EED headings when you provide detail on your chosen methods

Remember that supporting statements should be appropriately referenced throughout and critical appraisal (both of the published evaluation and your proposed future research) is key to demonstrate academic skills.

You will be expected to demonstrate both factual knowledge and skills related to assessment of economic evaluation. You should be able to justify any comment that you make. You do not need to review any papers other than the one provided on the discussion board. If you cannot find the information you need in the paper you select, then report that in your assignment.

You should use the same structure and headings as the NHS EED handbook but do not need to limit yourself to the NHS EED guidelines. Remember that the guidelines are just that, guidance on how to critically appraise and summarise a published paper. The NHS EED guidelines help to ensure you consider the key aspects of a study to be appraised and discussed.
