Problem 1
The total transistor count on IC produced over the last 35 years is contained in the file transistor_count.dat. Prepare a semilog plot (with the y axis scaled logarithmically) of the actual data, using circles only to show the data points. Include a second line representing the predicted values using Moore's Law, based on the 1971 count as the starting point. Add a legend to your plot.
Please note that Moore's law is that the number of transistors on an IC will double every two years. That means that every two years, the number of transistors on an IC will go up by 1 power of 2 every two years from 1971.
Problem 2
The data stored in mb_data.xlsx is geopotential height data. the data presented is a 500 millibar pressure surface, that is, the height above mean sea level at which the pressure is 500 millibars. The first column in the spreadsheet is latitude and the second column is longitude, with the rest of the array shown the pressure surface.
a. Plot the pressure surface versus longitude and latitude as a surface plot, using the surf() command. Interpolate the shading on the plot.
b. Plot the pressure surface versus latitude and longitude as a contour plot in a separate figure window, using the contour() command.
