n1 sin θ1 = n2 sin θ2
and subsequently the critical angle:
sin θc = nr/ni
Imagine light traveling in these three situations:
Water to Air (nwater = 1.33)
Glass to Air (nglass = 1.49)
And

Glass to Water.
