Based on the podcast interview, the documentary, and your readings this week, please post a 300 word response in the thread to the left titled "Research Assignment" in which you discuss and describe the reasons you believe so many people with severe mental illnesses are housed in the criminal justice system. While composing your response, consider the role the offender and the police officer play, how stress in the lives of police officers may exasperate interactions with the mentally ill, and address why some instances between the police and the mentally ill end in violence.
