1. For the each of the following situations, identify the properties of water that are involved. Explain how the unique chemical nature of water is responsible for each property you discuss. Explain how the properties you mention allow water to play the role it has in the situation. Situation 1: A Plant uses water in its leaves for photosynthesis. It must now transport water from the roots to the leaves.

Situation 2: A person is working hard on the roof of her house. The weather is very warm and the sun is shining. She is glad that her house is close to the beach!

Situation 3: A polar bear is hunting on the ice sheets for seals in the middle of the Artic winter.

Situation 4: A mushroom is growing in a shaded area of a yard. The mushroom only appeared after a good rain the day before.
